John Lowrie Morrison, also known as Jolomo, was born in Maryville, Glasgow. He became interested in art at an early age and attended Glasgow School of Art. Here he developed his expressionist landscape style of painting, influenced by artists such as Chagall and Soutine. He taught art at a high school on the West Coast of Scotland for twenty years and was appointed art director of Strathclyde during this time. He became a full time artist in 1996. He was awarded with an OBE in 2012 for his services to art and charity in Scotland.
